Categories

This year, we're hosting 11 different categories. We encourage you to choose the category that best fits your ability and identity.

Male/Female Divisions

• Beginner: V0-V3
• Intermediate: V4-V6
• Advanced: V7-V8
• Open: V9+

Mixed Divisions

• Youth (2012-2017 birth year, Wave 1 only)
• Master (45+ years or older)
• Non-Binary

*We require a minimum of 6 participants to run each category

Citizens Category Format: Redpoint

• Climbers will have three hours to climb any available boulder at their own pace.
• Climbers may climb as many problems as they'd like, but the top 5 will be used for scoring.
• The competitors may receive help from others during the competition.
  • They are permitted to discuss the routes, beta, and any aspects of the climb with others.
• Boulders must be climbed with a controlled start and finish in order to count toward scoring
• Climbers may attempt problems as many times as they'd like, with the number of attempts being used to break ties.
  • Any contact with a climb will be counted as an attempt. This includes, but is not limited to: falling, false starts, foot slips, one hand finishes, bailing off the route, etc.

Scoring

• Scoring will be based on a competitor's top 5 completed boulder problems
• Boulders will be assigned a point value and number. The higher the number, the more points that boulder is worth.
  • The number does not equal the point value
• Attempts towards a top will be used to break ties and determine your rank in the competition.
• Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony beginning at 6:45pm

Format, rules, and scoring will be discussed in greater detail during the 15 minute rules meeting preceding your category's competition.

FAQ's

• I fit into multiple categories, which one should I choose?
  • We recommend signing up for the category that best suits your ability or identity.
  • We will monitor for athletes that sign up for the wrong category, and reserve the right to move them into the correct category.
• Can I compete in multiple Categories?
  • You can compete in both the Open and Citizen Categories, and you will need to register for both.
  • You cannot sign up for multiple citizen's categories, e.g. "Masters" and "Advanced"
• Does it matter which wave I choose?
  • Adults (2011 birth year or older) may sign up for any wave, while youth (2012-2017) are restricted to Wave 1.
  • There are no other differences between waves

The 4 Noses Brewery and their adjoining businesses will tow your vehicle; however, the G1 lot and street parking are free. There will be overflow parking in the business lots on the south side of G1. G1 Climbing + Fitness is not responsible if your vehicle gets towed.
